The face-off between Fulham and Hull City was a close match despite many missed opportunities from both teams. Hull City walked away as the winner with a margin win of 1 – 0.

The first and only goal of the game came in late during the second half of the match as Manucho crash the dream of every player in Fulham. Many may have seen that throughout the game, the ball was clearly in Fulham’s possession. The late goal wasn’t an expected one, rather, Manucho being at the right place, at the right time.

Matt Duke played a large role in the match as Fulham came on strongly for the attacks on Hull City. The attacks were fast and furious but with skills and some luck, Duke managed to save the attempted attacks by Paul Konchesky and Clint Dempsey.
This is a win that Hull City has definitely been waiting anxiously for. Their last winning match was dated on 6th of December 2008, making it a long time since Hull City has walked away as the winner.
Although it clearly appeared that Fulham had the game controlled, many of their attacks failed to go through. It was clearly displayed when Bobby Zamora pushed for a penalty and Konchesky and Dempsey displayed desperate attacks.

Manchester United won the game against Fulham without much effort. The final score on 90 minutes was 0 – 4.

Manchester United secured two goals earlier in the first half of the game. Both of the goals were from Carlos Tevez. It appeared that many saw the first goal coming in due to Fulham’s lack of team cohesiveness resulting in a very poor defense tactic.
On the other hand, the first half of the game saw many wasted opportunities as the team members of Fulham failed to make a presence. They were often creating perfect shots, but failed to follow through the routine leaving many disappointed.
Fulham played a bad second half where most of the ball possession was clearly in United’s court.

United on the other hand shocked audiences with another shot by Rooney which came in at the 50th minute. This shot was clearly for making up for a missed shot earlier on in the game. This shot would have appeased manager, Alex Ferguson.
Not long after which, Rooney was removed from the game due to the unfriendly exchange with Dempsey. It is a good foresight on Ferguson who knew exactly how the situation will unfold. After all, Rooney is an asset to the team despite his missed shot earlier on in the game. United still needs Rooney for future games.
Ji-Sung Park created another goal for United making it a grand total of 4 goals. This is by far a great game for United as they slide comfortably into the semi-finals.

Heading into round five in the 2009 National Rugby League Premiership season, St George were simmering and making bold claims for a flag while last years champions Manly were languishing at the wrong end of the table.
The Rabbitohs and Bulldogs both looked like the surprise packets of 2009 after putting in dismal performances in 2008.
Fast forward and we see the Gold Coast Titans sitting pretty at the top of the table followed by the Broncos and Bulldogs while St George slipped to fourth and Manly elevated themselves to twelfth.
Betting circles have gone into a frenzy following Manly’s solid eighteen point win over the Rabbitohs and they are now back up to second favourite at $6.50 behind the Broncos at $6.00.
Last weeks favourites St George have slipped back to third at a miserly $7.00 after their loss to Newcastle who have been hovering around $15.00 for the last few weeks.
The big mover has been the Bulldogs who at the start of the season were paying around $40.00 after their shocking performance last year but after a few smart buys in the off season and a couple of solid wins under their belt now sit at $12.00.
The Titans have tightened up at $8.00 while the value bets at this early stage of the competition look to be South Sydney at $34.00 and Wests Tigers at $31.00.

Centrebet.com.au – The New Zealand Warriors have undoubtedly been one of if not the most consistent team in the Nation Rugby League Competition over the last ten years or so.

With a Grand Final appearance under the belts and a host of finals appearances to boot, it is almost a given that the lads from across the Tasman will be playing footy come September.
After playing some reasonable football towards the end of the season in 2008 they snuck into the top eight only to find themselves up against the red hot title favourites Melbourne.
After trailing for the entire game, a brilliant backline movement saw them sneak over out wide for a last minute try for one of the greatest upsets in NRL history.
They can almost be credited with costing the Storm the flag after the team from Melbourne failed to recover in time to take on Manly.
The question “can the New Zealand Warriors make the finals” is a much easier question than can they take out the 2009 Premiership.
Bet on NRL here.
Of course they can make the finals and showed exactly why after slipping into the top eight with a narrow victory over the very team who beat them to a premiership in 2003 – the Sydney City Roosters.
However toppling the likes of Manly, St George and the Titans should prove far to difficult for a club that has done little recruiting and development since their surprise cameo in last year’s finals series.

The game of Rugby League has yet again taken a back seat to rampant alcoholism as the pin up boy of the sport finds himself embroiled in a sex allegation that a sport struggling with its image really did not need.

On the eve of the launch of the National Rugby League’s latest million dollar advertising campaign, Brett Stewart faces charges of an alleged assault against the very people he was trying to involve in the sport – the youth.

The Manly Sea Eagles have had their fair share of troubles after owner Max Delmeige found himself nearly two hundred thousand dollars short when the tax man came knocking and he, and his legal team, were left holding their briefcases.
Now, to rub salt in an already gaping wound, it is alleged that after the unveiling of the “new look” Manly side, an intoxicated Stewart accosted a seventeen year old female in the stairwell of his Sydney side apartment and forced himself upon her.
The latest reports will tell you that although Stewart faces suspension from his club and all ads featuring the Australian, Origin and Premiership superstar have been suspended, he may still be eligible to play for his side given that no official charges have yet been laid.
It is a huge gamble for a side that has bounced back from a premiership loss to currently reign as flag holders to field a player that has brought the game into disrepute regardless of his innocence or guilt.
As the NRL tilt gets underway this weekend, it will no doubt be overshadowed by the call to ban all Rugby League players from ‘social drinking’, and the millions of fans around Australia asking the question “when is enough, enough?”

Centrebet.com.au – Victoria is now a certainty to claim the Sheffield Shield on home and away advantage after the Bushranger’s set the Queensland Bulls an impossible five hundred and ninety three to win of just sixty seven overs.

The game can not possibly result in a draw because it is the final so the team with the home advantage (the Vic’s set up a home final by being the dominant team not only right throughout the series but in the finals series as well).

After a strong performance in the opening inning including centuries from three different members of the Vic’s squad, a poor first innings from the Bulls meant that the Vic’s had a strangled hold on the Shield from the onset.
The Bushranger’s belted two hundred runs in the opening session in one of the most dominant batting performances in recnet Shield history to move to 5 – 282 before declaring with the lead of nearly six hundred.
The Bulls held slim hopes of completing a remarkable victory before some 20 twenty style batting from the Vic’s blasted them well out of range and into the history books.
The Queenslanders have had very little time to wield the willow and were on the defensive from the onset, having spent at least some part of every day in the field.
The Vic’s, needing only to draw to retain the title ground down the Queenslanders and left them with no hope of outright victory and hence no hope of claiming the shield.

IASBet.com.au – South Sydney are the surprise leader’s in the National Rugby League competition the biggest win over the Sydney Roosters in the clubs long history.

In one of the stand out rivalries in the NRL, South Sydney never looked in doubt as they ran rampant over the Rooster’s to notch up a forty point (52 – 12) victory, much to the delight of number one fan and part owner Russel ‘Rusty’ Crowe.
John Sutton was the stand out performer for the green and red’s and at time seemed to have the ball on a string, his pin point kicks sent tries raining from the heavens as the Roster’s could do little to stop the flood gates once they had opened.

Although it is very early in the season, many have John Sutton earmarked for the blues number six jersely after a horror performance from Braith Anasta saw the marrons take a thrid straight origin series and leave the blues scratching their heads.
Origin great and undoubtedly one of the best to don the blues number 6 jersey, Laurie Dailey, was quick to support the twenty four year old’s bid to gain a cap for the blues who come against the maroons in just two months time.
The race to wear the coveted jersey is wide open this year seeing as though Greg Bird wore the jersey twice last year and Braith anasta once.
Other contenders include Parramatta’s Feleti Mateo, Cronulla’s Trent Barret (who is no stranger to the position) and Canberra’s Terry Campese who had one of the most consistent seasons of any career last year and was unlucky to be overlooked for the spot.
