www.centrebet.com.au - National Rugby League is the top league or professional rugby league football in Australia and Asia. Like American football, it is a contact sport played by two teams of thirteen on a rectangular grass field. The idea of the game is to bring the ball from their own end of the field to the goal area of the opposite site of the field.

Generally, there are three ways to score a goal. The try is worth four points. Basically, a try is a goal scored when the ball reaches the goal area by a team member still holding the ball. Conversion and penalty goals are worth two points and are attempted by kicks, which are not part of general play. Lastly, a field goal is worth one point and must be made by a drop kick.

Notably, there is a six tackle rule in the sport, or commonly referred to as “six tackles”. This rule means that an attacking team only has a set of six chances to score, and if the sixth tackle has been made, a change over takes place where the ball is handed over to the opposing team where the tackle was last made.

Interestingly, there is a relatively newly created rule known as the 40/20 rule. This is created to reward excellence in kicking. Basically, if a member of the attacking team kicks the ball from behind his 40 meter line and it goes into touch in between the opposition’s 20 meter and goal line, a 40/20 is awarded. This award guarantees possession in an attacking position as the attacking team is entitled to move the team to the position at where the ball went out.
