The National Rugby League Game (NRL) is made up of 16 teams. These teams are then split into two pools, based on the performance of the season just finished, in which each club will play two games against each team in the other pool, one game being in their home stadium the other being away at their opponents.

For a win the team within the NRL tips will receive two pints, for a draw, one point and for a loss no points. If a bye takes place then this will also give the team two points. The 8 highest teams on the leader-boards at the end of the season will then compete in the finale series, which consists of knock-out and sudden death games which take place over 4 weeks until there are only two teams left.

The two teams left are then entered into the NRL Grand Final game which is one of Australia’s biggest sporting events, shown on television and attracting very large audiences. The winners of the NRL final game are then awarded the NRL Trophy along with premiership rings for every player of that winning team.

The following teams are currently in the NRL, with Melbourne Storm winning the NRL 2009 Trophy; Brisbane Broncos, Canterbury Bulldogs, North Queensland Cowboys, St George Illawarra Dragons, Parramatta Eels, Newcastle Knights, Penrith Panthers, South Sydney Rabbitohs, Canberra Raiders, Sydney Roosters, Manly Sea Eagles, Cronulla Sharks, Melbourne Storm, Wests Tigers, Gold Coast Titans and the New Zealand Warriors.
