This seasons cricket kicked off with a sultry spring night at the Gabba which saw Andrew Symmonds laying down the law with a swashbuckling 45 that put him right back in the mix for a great summer of cricket.
However, his arch nemesis of this season was a another all rounder by the name of Bradley Hodge.

Many staunch Victorian cricketing “old boys” were aggrieved not to see Hodge wearing the “yellow and grey”, overlooked for crowd favourite Symmonds despite his lack of form in the domestic competition.
Hodge starred with the bat and ball and was awarded the Emirates man of the match award, ensuring that no mans position in the Australian one day squad is secured.

The All-Stars piled 200 plus runs in a clinical display that saw the return of Western Australians favourite cricketing suns, and regular one-day and test openers Justin “Alfie” Langer and Adam “Church” Gilchrist.

Langer strode to the crease with all the confidence of a black belt entering the dojo and precede to put on a stunning half century, while Gillchrsist flashes a quickfire 25 and was unlucky not to have one or two stick in the mits behind the wickets.
Once again, the twenty 20 has proved to be a thoroughly entertaining opening format to the ever popular Australian cricketing season.

The crowd was more than thrilled with the style, flare and skill of the undisputed cream of the crop of Australian cricket and this sets the tone for long, hot summer of cricket.
